FINDING THE APPROPRIATE CABLE TRAY/ LADDER DIMENSIONS
The appropriate cable tray / ladder should have a volume reserve of at least 30% (for possible later installation). Thus, cable tray / ladder cross section TLS is:
TLS = 1,3 X TCS
So, the right cable tray / ladder has:
(Width x Side Height) >= TLS
As it is obvious there are several combinations of width & side height that can be used. In selecting the right one the following should be considered:
- The cable height of the largest cable may not exceed the edge height of cable tray
- When dimensioning branches, the bending radii of the cables must be taken considered.
- For power cables it is advisable to select a wide and low cable tray / ladder
- For data cables it is possible to select a narrow and high cable tray.
