FINDING THE APPROPRIATE CABLE TRAY/ LADDER DIMENSIONS

The appropriate cable tray / ladder should have a volume reserve of at least 30% (for possible later installation). Thus, cable tray / ladder cross section TLS is:

TLS = 1,3 X TCS

So, the right cable tray / ladder has:

(Width x Side Height) >= TLS

As it is obvious there are several combinations of width & side height that can be used. In selecting the right one the following should be considered:

  1. The cable height of the largest cable may not exceed the edge height of cable tray
  2. When dimensioning branches, the bending radii of the cables must be taken considered.
  3. For power cables it is advisable to select a wide and low cable tray / ladder
  4. For data cables it is possible to select a narrow and high cable tray.
